Hema, Hollands iconic department store, had a new website. And they wanted a viral video to tell this news.

Hang on - a viral video for a website? Why not make the website itself a viral?

And so we did. We turned (a copy of) their website into a playful chain reaction of products. It didn’t go viral. It went bananas.

HEMA | Rube Goldberg

It was featured on every major blog worldwide, won every ad award including a Webby, and attracted millions of customers to the real online store.

This evergreen website was launched in 2008 and finally retired in 2018 (it was made with flash), probably making it the longest running unchanged website in the history of the internet.
